Rhizogonium novae-hollandiae has creeping stems with erect-to-pendant branches with two rows of leaves on opposite sides of the stem (distichous). Leaves have a broad vein (nerve or costa), are oblong-ovate in shape with a sharp acute tip that often has a fine projection containing the nerve (vein). The terminal portion of the leaf margins are toothed.
Widespread in New Zealand on tree ferns and rotting wood in moist forest.
