Mittenia plumula

Family: Mitteniaceae

Mittenia plumulosa is a very tiny moss with stems up to 0.5 cm in length bearing leaves in two rows up the stem giving it a fern-like appearance. The leaf bases extend down the stem as a decurrent wing and the nerve (vein) fails before the leaf apex.

An inconspicuous little moss widespread in New Zealand, commonly found under moist overhanging banks in the forest especially along stream margins.
