Pseudoscleropodium purum

Family: Brachytheciaceae

Pseudoscleropodium purum is an invasive weedy moss with branches regularly arranged in one plane on either side of the stem (pinnate branching). Leaves are overlapping and concave with a short projection (apiculus) at the tip that is often bent back. There is a single vein to about mid leaf.

An introduction from Europe, it forms large mats in open areas. Established in many locations in New Zealand
