Distichophyllum pulchellum

Family Daltoniaceae

Distichophyllum pulchellum forms dense, flattened, yellow-green patches. The stems are a dark brown and bear closely overlapping leaves somewhat flattened into one plane. The leaf has a rounded apex and has a single vein (nerve) that runs two-thirds or more of the way up the leaf. There is a border of elongaged cells at the leaf margin. 

Found on rotting logs, tree bases and wet soil in sheltered locations throughout New Zealand.
