Distichophyllum microcarpum

Family Daltoniaceae

Distichophyllum microcarpum forms loose-to compact mats of branching stems that bear closely overlapping leaves flattened into one plane that are not or little crisped when dry. Shoots are prostrate to weakly ascendant and irregularly branched. Leaves are spathulate, 2-4 mm long  with a strong single, long vein and margins with minute rounded teeth. Leaves  are distinctive in having the leaf margin unbordered.

Widespread in New Zealand in damp areas in lowland to subalpine zones.
